I started to learn how to market after spending a small fortune on marketing services to promote my own businesses: most of things I spent my money on never generated anywhere near the sales the ‘smooth talking’ salespeople promised, so I decided to find out how to market businesses and generate a worthwhile return on investment from some of the worlds best marketers.
I started getting passionate about reputation marketing a few years ago: I was helping businesses to create and optimise their Google Place Page so they could take advantage of their free advertising at the top of the first page. Part of the optimisation process was collecting customer reviews, and I soon started noticing additional benefits businesses were receiving above being more visible online. Benefits like: customers saying that the reason they chose the business was because of their online reviews, that they didn’t even contact any competitors, they were part trusting and easier to sell to and made quicker buying decisions, to name just a few.
The whole online reviews/reputation landscape has evolved a lot since then and become a lot more ‘complicated’ but also multiple times more beneficial to the businesses that embrace it and control and market their online reputations.
